** 자신을 더 많이 내어주는 성탄절이 되자! **
물가를 잡기 위해 금리가 오르고 있습니다. 사람들은 성탄절을 앞두고 선물비 지출을 고민하고 있습니다. 성탄절에 돈을 덜 쓴다는 결정은 개인적인 선택입니다. 인간관계를 형성하고 유지하는 것은 명절뿐 아니라 일년 내내 정말 중요한 일입니다. 인간관계가 우리의 우선순위에서 높은 위치에 있다면 우리 자신을 더 많이 내어주는 것으로 결정하면 됩니다. 이사야는 한 사람이 남들을 섬김으로써 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 영적 희생을 이렇게 설명했습니다. “주린 자에게 네 심정을 동하며 괴로워하는 자의 마음을 만족케 하면 네 빛이 흑암 중에서 발하여 네 어두움이 낮과 같이 될 것이며“(사58:10).우리가 탄생을 축하하는 예수께서는 자신에 대해 말씀하셨습니다. “인자의 온 것은 섬김을 받으려 함이 아니라 도리어 섬기려 하고 자기 목숨을 많은 사람의 대속물로 주려 함이니라“(막10:45). 우리도 올해 성탄절을 지킬 때에 우리 자신을 내어줌으로써 다른 사람들에게 더 많이 주도록 합시다.
Interest rates are rising to catch inflation. People are thinking about spending on gifts ahead of Christmas. Deciding to spend less money at Christmas is a personal choice. Building and maintaining relationships – what really matters over the holidays and throughout the year – are priorities. If relationships are high on our list of priorities, we could resolve to give more by giving ourselves away. Isaiah described the kind of spiritual sacrifice that pleases God as one of serving others. “If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday” (Isa.58:10). Jesus whose birth we celebrate, said of Himself, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many” (Mark10:45). As we observe Christmas this year, let’s give more by giving ourselves away.
