바울 사도는 베풂에 대해 말하며, “하나님은 즐겨내는 자를 사랑하신다” (고후9:7)고 분명히 말합니다. 바울 사도가 고린도 신자들과 우리에게 권면하는 것은 체력훈련에서 모든 사람이 참석할 수 있게 하는 방법인 일종의 스케일링입니다. “각각 그 마음에 정한 대로 할 것이요” (7절). 우리는 각자 베푸는 정도가 다르며, 때로는 시간이 지나면서 그 정도도 바뀌는 것을 봅니다. 비교는 유익하지 않지만 베푸는 자세는 유익합니다. 당신이 할 수 있을 만큼 아낌없이 베푸십시오(6절). 우리 하나님은 그렇게 기쁘게 내는 것을 훈련하여 실천하면 모든 면에서 “하나님께 감사”(11절)하는 복된 삶으로 가득 채워질 거라고 약속하셨습니다. ‘하나님, 저는 기쁘게 베푸는 사람이 되기 위해 최선을 다하겠습니다. 저는 기쁘게 베푸는 것이 중요하다는 것을 압니다. 비교하지 않는 지혜와 아낌없이 뿌릴 수 있는 힘, 결과를 당신 손에 맡길 수 있는 믿음을 주소서.’
When it comes to giving, the apostle Paul was clear: “God loves a cheerful giver” (2Cor.9:7). But his encouragement to the believers in Corinth, and to us, is a variation of scaling that is used in the world of fitness that allows room for anyone to participate . “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart” (v.7). We each find ourselves at different giving levels, and sometimes those levels change over time. Comparison is not beneficial, but attitude is. Based on where you are, give generously (v.6). Our God has promised that the disciplined practice of such cheerful giving brings enrichment in every way with a blessed life that results in “thanksgiving to God” (v.11). ‘God, I want to be a cheerful giver, to give it my best effort. I know that discipline in this area is crucial. Give me the wisdom not to compare, the strength to sow generously, and the faith to leave the results in Your hands.
